It has been awhile and yours truly has been MIA because work has been at an all-time high (still). Wanted to go to Market (of JGV fame) in a Boston heartbeat and it finally happened-That day, Germany won a match against whichever country and it was a beautiful win (Why didn't they win the FIFA World cup?!). Met up with friends after to watch more futbol. xoxo.
I was at an informal meetup with some people so there was insufficient comfort between us to share food... so I tried only my eggs Benedict and B's chicken parm. But judging from everyone's expressions, Market by JGV delivered :) The prices weren't all too expensive really and averaged $14/entree. But of course we had dessert too (and it was excellent) which added on to our bill.
Cocktails for the girls
Eggs Benedict with Ham, Spinach or Smoked Salmon, Crispy Potatoes, Tomato Salad-portion was spot on, eggs were poached perfectly and runny and the tomatoes were sweet and bursting with freshness. :D
Black Truffle Pizza with Fontina Cheese-truffle smelled really good and there's a generous sprinkle of it there
Peekytoe Crab Cake Sandwich-We actually googled peekytoe crabs because some of us thought the restaurant was trying to be cute. But as it turns out, peekytoe crab is a new big ingredient. Go figure.
Parmesan Crusted Organic Chicken, White Asparagus Lemon-Basil Butter-B's. Very tender and yummy.
Rhubarb and Strawberry Crumble. Strawberry sorbet. It was fresh and good but boring for the lack of effort.
Lemon Meringue tart, peppered pistachio ice-cream and a drizzle of shiso juice-B and I shared this. I must say that I absolutely loved this dessert! The lemon tart was perfectly sour and doesn't taste too egg-y, as most lemon meringue tarts wont to do. Shiso imparted a fresh, plummy finish to an otherwise rich dessert. The highlight. In fact, I'll go the extra mile to say that this plate cleansed my palate and gave me an air of coolness as we stepped forth into the unforgiving Boston heat. That's all.
