Food (3.4/5.0)

Service (4.0/5.0)

I chose The Blue Room after reading about their rave reviews on Yelp. I must say I went there with higher expectations only to be disappointed. Don't get me wrong, it's not because the dishes were simple, but they could have been done better. The wine pairing Keiko had didn't really go well with her food we thought. But then again, it is Restaurant week, where restaurants relax their profits per person. Go figure. The biggest gripe I have is that the desserts were bad. Not one, but ALL OF THEM were dry and hard. Just looking at the pictures in closeup might give you a better idea. The crumb... was crummy, no?

Would the standard of their food be better if it wasn't RW? I wouldn't know, because anything blah isn't going to make me return to pay full price. Thoughts on specific dishes to follow below.
(Pulled Pork Sliders-a little too sweet but the tiny sliders are in a cute size)
(creamy parsnip soup roasted and pureed with cayenne-carrot olive oil-it was ok)
(Simple Caesar salad with endives-nothing special. I'll rather go to Stephanie's for their amazing salads.)
(I forgot what fish it was-this was mine and i thought it was a little overcooked)
(braised pork-kinda dry, needs more salt)
(Asparagus and green pea risotto-once again, ok only.)
(plum cake-really dry. Even the plating was slipshod.)
(Chocolate cake-very dry, very boring) I've always refrained from ordering chocolate plates because chocolate is universally-liked and is easily abused in desserts for lack of effort. This is a prime example.
(apple crumb cake-not tart enough for me and of course, dry!)
